NDASSP Core Principles

 

1.  Promoting leadership at the secondary school level by providing professional development, information, and networking opportunities.

 

2.  Conducting research and providing services to promote and improve secondary schools.

 

3.  Setting high professional standards for and promoting the status of secondary school principals.

 

4.  Promoting student leadership by coordinating and sponsoring on the state level student leadership organizations and activities related to the national and state secondary school principals.  Examples are student council, national honor society, and the academic all-state teams.

 

5.  Working with other professional organizations.

NDASSP Maintenance Activities

 

Core Principle 1 – Professional Training

·         Publish notice in Umbrella and put on agenda for October.

·         Continue support of these activities at regional level.

·         Encourage on-line application for Academic All-State

·         Publish academic all-state in the Umbrella.

·         Promote the participation in electronic academic contests

·         Continue to promote Student Council, National Honor Society, Close-Up, and Spelling Bee:

·         Agenda item at Fall and Winter Conference.      

·         Continue to work with NDHSAA to promote academic all state team and academic programs.

 

Core Principle 3 – Promotion of the Principalship

·         News releases to local papers on issues within the school.

·         Develop position statements regarding a variety of issues that affect the principalship.

·       Develop a position statement regarding the salary for North Dakota’s secondary principals.

           

Core Principle 4– Legislatively Active

·         Representative Assembly during legislative year

·         Listserve, e-mail and web page

·         Continue support for electronic publication of Legislative Beacon.

 

Core Principle 5– Application of technology

Sustaining

·       Support training and use of technology by the NDCEL and affiliated organizations

·       Support increased funding from legislature for technology use in the public schools

·       Promote, support and expand the use of the Internet by NDASSP members
